Positive ways to spend your time during “shelter-in-place”

For weeks, our lives have been changed because of the coronavirus outbreak. Since the “shelter-in-place” order has been implemented, many are left wondering when this is all going to be over. With all these negative vibes going on worldwide, here are some positive ways you can use the time of social distancing.

Spend more time with the family

One thing than many people wish they had was more time with their family. From hectic work schedules to the hustle and bustle of the city, oftentimes we do not have enough time to slow down and spend quality time with the ones we love the most. Some regret missing out on their kid’s life. But now that most of us are working from home, you can take the time to spend it with them. Why not prepare a hearty breakfast and enjoy it with everyone around the table? Turn off the gadgets and play board games that have been untouched for a long time. Turn up the music, and have a dance battle. Maybe pop some popcorn and have a movie marathon!

Restore old friendships

From moving away for college or simply falling out of contact, we tend to lose friendships during our busy lives. Now more than ever, we need to restore friends we lost along the way. With a simple text or even a Facebook message, connect to those you lost touch with. In our current situation of uncertainty, now is the best time to ask others how they are!

Write a journal

For some, writing a journal has always been on their New Year’s Resolution. What better time to write down your thoughts and experiences than during a worldwide pandemic. Keep a record of your day-to-day life, whether it’d be written in a journal, a blog or even poetry! This allows you to organize your thoughts and clear your mind from any stress. It also would be nice to look back or share these thoughts with others in the future!

Listen to new music/Watch new Movies

Have you been listening to the same five songs over and over again? Maybe haven’t had the time for movies that’s been in on your “must-watch” list? Now is a perfect time! Expand your playlist and listen to different music genres. Ask your friends what’s on theirs and share your favorite one. Maybe take a break from your tunes and listen to podcasts? Have a movie night, and watch movies on Netflix Party with your friends without leaving the comfort of your cozy bed.

Try something new

In times of social distancing, you would think that trying something new could be very difficult. Here at Reason we take team adventures into a whole new world! Experience the world’s first contactless escape room, Lola in Space. Without leaving your home, you and your friends get to help an astronaut escape by finding clues and solving puzzles!

Conclusion

With the spread of coronavirus, finding the good during the bad times is often a struggle. With some places on lockdown and others on “shelter-in-place”, these uncertainties could really heighten our negative thoughts. Keep a positive outlook on our current situation by doing the things you’ve always wanted to do, but haven’t with more time in our hands.
