5 Easy Tips For #Adulting

#Adulting has been all the rage on the internet these days! Being an adult is not easy — with your 9-5 job, making sure that you are eating healthy, and that all the bills are paid on time, could be overwhelming. Don’t forget about squeezing in your social life! That’s why we created a list of some of the things for all millennials to survive being an adult.

File your taxes

Tax season is here, so don’t forget to file it on time! About 80% of millennials are worried about taxes: from making a mistake to getting the wrong amount of refund. Be prepared and get all the information you need like W-2 forms, 1099s if you have other sources of income, and other things. You have until April 15 to file, and there are a lot of tax software programs like TurboTax, TaxAct and H&R Block, that can help you step-by-step.

Cook at home

With your hectic schedule from work to finding time to hang out with your besties, cooking meals at home could be a struggle. The convenience of take-out food is just so much easier! But did you know having home-cooked meals can not just save you money, but also start your healthy living? Start by learning a couple of easy recipes you enjoy. Restaurants tend to cook with more sugar, salt, and butter — which is extremely bad for your health. Remember, cooking delicious and healthy meals at home is a great way to show self-love and self-care.

Start saving

Only 38% of millennials are confident about their finances. If you have told yourself, “This time I won’t eat out” or “I need to start saving”, why not try the 50/30/20 rule of budgeting? Saving money is making money online or otherwise. Have an understanding of your spending habits, and think about your financial goals when starting a budget.  Allot 50% of your income on all your necessities like your monthly rent or groceries. Use 30% for fun things you enjoy doing like traveling, watching concerts, or shopping. The rest is for your savings or money for a rainy day.

Live a healthy lifestyle

As an adult, starting a healthy lifestyle is important. But how can we stay healthy even after the hustle-bustle of life? First, start by creating a strong sleeping routine. Lack of sleep impairs your attention and alertness. It also can cause serious health problems like heart disease and high blood pressure. Go to your doctor regularly, and learn about your family’s health history! Eat your fruits and vegetables, have a workout routine to get your heart pumping, and, of course, kick off unhealthy habits like smoking. Lastly, find time to relax and practice meditation to enhance your mental health

Have a skincare routine

Skin is the largest organ in the body, and yet most of us neglect it. Every adult should have a skincare routine. It may sound like it’s high maintenance, but it is necessary to protect your skin from harsh outside forces. Know your skin type, and learn about the products that will help you. Stop using your regular bar soap or body wash, and get a facial cleanser. Gently wash your face and rinse with warm water. Replenish and bring back the nutrients to your skin by using a toner after the wash. Lastly, use moisturizers to bring back the hydration in your skin.
